Casalbordino
Our company Madonna dei Miracoli Soc. Coop. Agricola was founded in 1960 by 42 small winegrowers of the area, whose aim was to develop wine production in the “casalesi” hills where vines have been grown with patience and devotion from time immemorial.
The Cooperative has grown over the years and now has 650 members with 1400 hectares altogether where select vines are grown.
It is an important reality for the economic and social development of the whole district of Casalbordino and the surrounding area. The Cooperative’s main aim has always been to produce fine wines from superior grapes.
Numerous varieties of grapes are grown in the area and include the traditional Montepulciano d’Abruzzo grape, the Trebbiano d’Abruzzo, and Sangiovese grape. Just lately, after much research and careful selection, some new varieties of grape have been introduced: the Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, White Pinot, and Falanghina which are particularly well adapted to the soil and climate of the low hills of Casalbordino.
Observed daily over the ripening period, the grapes are selected and vinted in differentiated ways using the most modern technology in the sector. Only the finest components of the grapes are extracted, which are essential for obtaining superior wines. The processing of the wines is carefully checked at every stage by experts who select the product and pinpoint the best time for bottling and marketing, according to the degree of mellowness required for each type of wine.
Thus, Casalbordino wines can be marketed in a complete range from high quality, DOC wines, Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, Cerasuolo, and Trebbiano d’Abruzzo to excellent wines for everyday consumption.
The Cooperative’s high professionalism and sound organization are a guarantee of quality in the field of wine-producing and marketing, and the many awards at home and abroad bear witness to this.
